Connection boundary
Confirm the agreed import and export limits, metering boundary and operator interfaces. A battery rating alone does not establish the permitted power at the connection point.
Eight interfaces to review before commissioning — from the grid connection to operational handover.
For project owners, developers, investors and EPC teams. Use these questions to structure a technical discussion; final requirements depend on the approved project, manufacturer and grid operator.
Confirm the agreed import and export limits, metering boundary and operator interfaces. A battery rating alone does not establish the permitted power at the connection point.
Review active and reactive capability together, including voltage, temperature and auxiliary-load assumptions. Check the capability at the point of connection, not just at the converter terminals.
Define which controller owns each setpoint, how limits are coordinated, and the response to unavailable communications or state-of-charge limits.
Review equipment ratings, thermal assumptions, cable installation conditions, losses and protection interfaces as one electrical system.
Coordinate the protection philosophy, approved settings, authority boundaries and test evidence. This checklist is not a switching procedure or permission to energise.
Verify signal names, units, scaling, timestamps, quality flags and command feedback against an agreed signal list. The online Mercury simulator uses demonstration values, not plant telemetry.
Review cooling, auxiliary supplies, battery monitoring and fire-system interfaces against the project design and manufacturer requirements.
Agree the test boundaries, acceptance criteria, responsibilities, document register and outstanding-action process before handover. Confirm what the operator must witness or approve.
